What I learned this weekend

Wooden spoons make not only excellent drumsticks,they also are terrific teething toys.

Toes taste best when naked but are palatable in pajamas.

Despite my mom's best efforts, I will revolt against this "back to sleep"movement and will wake up on my tummy after every nap.

Johnny Jump Up

Mom bought me this awesome toy called a "Johnny Jump Up." So far I only spin around in it, but I have heard you can jump up and down too. Mom has been trying to help me jump, but I only plant one leg and spin.

I also think it is a very awesome teething ring. I can spin and chew on the swing all at the same time.

A Reminder for Moms

Take your Baby to Work Day

Yesterday I went to work with Daddy for a little while. I learned how to "cry" to get his attention when he was working. These pics were taken during my "peepshow" diaper change!

Sitting up

I want so desperately to be able to sit up on my own. Whenever I am lying on my back, I strain and struggle to sit. Luckily Mom helps me every once in a while. She says I am getting much more strong and soon I will be able to sit up independently. I also can rollover from my back to my tummy, but I will only do it when I want to reach something. And then it is right back over to my back.

Boy's Weekend

Daddy and I went to watch the motorcycle races again this weekend. When Mommy got home, this is how she found me. (Dad was asleep on the sofa.)

Play Date with Jorja

Jorja's mommy had a dentist appointment so Jorja and I got to play. Jorja can walk already so I watched her run all over the house. I thought it was really fascinating. But I did get a little jealous and I would not let my mommy set me down. It was so much fun to have a friend over to play.

Playing with Dad

I sat up with Daddy and played with some of my toys. I could not decide which one was my favorite so I kept putting each one in my mouth and then picking up another. I played with all 3 for 30 minutes, the longest I have ever been interested in a toy according to my Mom. It was a lot of fun. Even Sophie was interested in my activity.

Long car trip

This weekend we drove to Ohio to see Nonni and Pappa. The trip out was not so bad. I managed to sleep most of the trip. Of course, Daddy was driving at night, so it was my bedtime anyway. I did a lot of things and met lots of new people when I was in Ohio. We went to Uncle Nate's glass show/graduation exhibit. I watched him make a glass champagne flute. It was pretty cool to see, but it was hot by the ovens. I met my Aunt April and played with Isaiah, my cousin, again. I also got to meet my Uncle Seth, and his girlfriend Janelle. They live in Oregon. Sunday was my Mom's first Mother's Day. All of my Daddy's family got together and had dinner together. I was held by everyone. I even showed off how well I can rollover. It was sure fun to see everyone. Mommy forgot she had brought the camera so we didn't get any pictures of the family on Sunday. This time, however, I did not cry when Grandma Kay held me. Mom did get a picture of that.

Monday we drove home after breakfast. It was a very long drive, but I learned that if I cried frantically Mommy would stop the car and play with me. Even Mackenzie was tired of the trip. Daddy had to lift her into the car because she wouldn't get back in after we would stop. It was still a fun trip though. I am glad I got to see all of my family again.

I have learned how to push out some major spit bubbles with my tongue. It is the coolest trick ever.

Too hot for clothes

I love it now that it is warm outside. Mommy lets me play in my onesie all day long.

Playtime!

Well, mostly I was really crabby for my Dad this weekend.

But, I did get to play with Mackenzie for a while, which was lots of fun. I have to keep an eye on her though, 'cause she keeps trying to work a trade - one of my awesome toys for that stinky old rawhide. Yuck! She keeps telling me our slobber is basically the same, but I'm not buyin' it.

Toes!!

Did you guys know that we have these awesome things attached to our bodies? After my bath today, I discovered that I could reach my toes. They are so cool!! I can't quite get my toes into my mouth yet, but I am sure they taste as wonderfully as they feel.

Darn Book

I am going to throw away What to Expect The First Year, because it gives Mom too many ideas. For the fifth month, it says "By the month's end, a few babies will be able to manage unassisted sitting when propped up by their hands, but most will still tumble forward in this position." And, of course, we had to try it. I can sit propped up by my hands, but I tumble to the side after a minute or so. Now we have a new thing to practice. Oh goody. But I have found a way to get revenge on Mom for making "grow and develop" daily. I have started to wake up at 1am for a night time feeding. She keeps threatening to start me on solids if I keep it up. Duh, Mom, that is what I am aiming for. When will she learn that I rule this roost?

Green Eggs

I know it looks like I am falling over in this picture, but I am really reaching for my book. Mom and I read a story every day. Today I decided I needed to try Green Eggs and Ham too, so I was attempting to eat my book. Lately I have been supporting myself for short periods of time when I am put into a seated position. I know I cannot sit alone yet, but I am definitely getting stronger.
